An adorable story of an Indian man’s father “retiring” from Kirana Shop becomes viral on Facebook

It’s not uncommon to hear stories of people quitting their professions after years of hard work. However, have you ever seen someone who was “retiring” from their own company? Quite distinctive, don’t you think? As he just said goodbye to managing the family grocery store, which he put his all into for three decades, this guy from Aurangabad chose to honor his father’s profession by designating it as retired.

Waheed Momin proudly published on Facebook a heartfelt account of his father’s trip. He began by saying, “Today marks Abba’s official retirement from his KIRANA shop, although he wasn’t quite ready for it.” He went on to say that his dad had managed a pantapri for 13 years before entering the grocery business 33 years ago in a leased location.

Dr. Waheed recounted how his father’s kirana business, which was open 365 days a year with the exception of two Eid vacations, maintained the family’s financial stability and made it possible for him to pursue an education without hindrance. “Feeling both sad and happy, as I would have definitely continued and expanded this business nicely in a modern way if my parents had not given me proper education,” he said, expressing his mixed feelings.

Now a consultant neurologist, Dr. Waheed described the touching occasion of his father’s retirement, saying, “It’s sad to see him stopping his work, which he liked most.” I hope he takes good care of his health, which he has consistently neglected for us, and enjoys his retirement and free time.”

His message quickly gained popularity online and prompted many kind remarks from the general public. Wonderful remarks, Waheed Momin. I can identify with every word of that. We also had a shop once. One person said, “I hope your dad has a happy retirement.” “Yes, your father deserves a salute and what more great thing is that u r still attached to your roots,” said a second commenter. A third person said, “Hello, It’s good to see you express gratitude on this platform. God is always fortunate to have supportive parents like you. Your father is the true hero of your life; this is a proud time for your beautiful parents.”

It’s quite difficult to see your parents age and stop enjoying the activities they previously enjoyed. In spite of the bittersweet realization, it is encouraging to observe that they are now able to unwind and have fun.
