A couple in Jamui, Bihar, was tricked by con artists posing as elite police officers

Cybercriminals use a variety of strategies, such as breaking into test systems or tricking gullible people, as seen by a recent instance in Jamui, Bihar. Here, a couple lost their hard-earned money as a consequence of falling for a bogus operation run by hackers.

Residents of the Pipradih area, Kishore Kumar and his wife Sunita Kumari, got a frightening call from an unidentified number. The caller claimed to be from the DGP Office and said that their daughter had gotten into a fight with the son of a minister. The scammer claimed to be working in the couple’s daughter’s best interest when he sought an instant payment of Rs 35,000 to supposedly settle the dispute.

The thief used the couple’s fear for their daughter’s safety to his advantage by fabricating a story about what would happen if the ransom wasn’t paid on time. The con artist forced the couple to transfer the money without checking the veracity of the allegations, feigning emotional concern by saying that their daughter was sobbing and stressing how urgent the issue was.

Kishore Kumar and Sunita Kumari gave in to pressure and sent Rs 25,000 to the criminal’s account because they were so terrified and anxious. The concerned parents soon got in touch with their daughter, who lives overseas for school. The truth became clear from their discussion: their daughter was not involved in any incident of this kind.

The family quickly registered a complaint at the cyber cell section to take legal action against the hackers after realizing the seriousness of their mistake. The event exposes the dubious techniques used by cybercriminals to take advantage of weak people in order to make money.

Authorities are now looking into the situation with the goal of catching the offenders and preventing frauds like this one in the future. This regrettable event is a harsh reminder of the need of being cautious and double-checking requests or claims, especially in the world of cybercrime where deceit has no boundaries.
