British delivery women claim that customers have harassed them sexually

In Britain, women who work as delivery agents have had the same issues. Many of them have recently voiced complaints over unsuitable customer behavior. A female delivery employee told The Independent, on the condition of anonymity, that she had gone to bring meals to a client, but what had occurred to her was horrible. The report said that when she rang the doorbell and waited, her client answered the door and gave her a shocking surprise. There was not a scrap of clothing on the man’s body. As soon as the lady felt threatened, she bolted from the area. The encounter left the lady scared, but she chose not to report since she claimed to feel especially exposed as an immigrant residing in the UK.

There have been other reports of similar experiences from British women, so this is not an isolated incidence. Something similar happened to a different lady who worked for a delivery app. The guy requested her to feed him at his home when she went to bring the meal to him while he was still just wearing his underpants. Women agents claim that these clients plot such heinous deeds deliberately as soon as they see the name of a woman as the delivery partner on their smartphone. An employee of Deliveroo said that a man once invited her to enter his home so they could have a drink.

The gig economy’s nature, which includes freelance employment like delivery tasks, experts warn, usually results in precarious situations for women in particular.
