Learn How a Paddleboarder in Alaska Avoided a Close Encounter with a Humpback Whale

During a nervous few seconds seen on tape by friends and relatives as the enormous beast emerged directly in front of him then glided beneath his board, an Alaskan guy on a paddleboard narrowly avoided a near brush with a humpback whale and avoided even getting wet.

It’s simply so enormous. Kevin Williams of Anchorage remarked on Thursday, one week after his encounter with an adult humpback whale in Prince William Sound, “You’re tiny against this animal. The Alaska Department of Fish and Game reports that adult females typically measure 49 feet (15 meters) in length and may weigh up to 70,000 pounds (31,700 kg). The size of men is somewhat smaller.

Williams said that anybody who asserts they wouldn’t be terrified under such circumstance is insane.

“It’s not a good situation if you have a whale that is that close and doesn’t know you were there,” he added. Any action the animal takes, even a flick of its fin, “could be the end of my life.”

About 60 miles (100 kilometers) southeast of Anchorage, in the sound off Whittier, Williams, his son Brian, and a few other friends were paddleboarding or kayaking.Vi
