Why in this Swiss city the clock never strikes twelve

We cannot function without clocks in our everyday lives. Without it, we won’t be able to plan, organize, or get ready for our daily tasks or established habits. Did you know that there is a city with a clock that never strikes twelve? According to rumors, the clock in the Swiss city of Solothurn does not strike midnight. The reason for this is because the clock does not display the number 12. The town plaza of this city is where you may find that clock. Only 11 hourly markers are present. Although there are several clocks in this location that lack a 12, this one is not the only one. The locals’ love of the number 11 is the only explanation for these peculiar observations. This number is used in several of the town’s designs as well. These clocks are even seen in churches. For instance, St. Ursus, the city’s primary church, took 11 years to construct. There are 11 bells, 11 windows, and 11 doors in it.

The locals here put on a big party to honor their 11th birthday. Even the gifts they provide have something to do with this figure. It’s interesting to note that the city has 11 towers, 11 museums, and 11 historical falls. According to several stories, individuals have long been drawn to the number 11.

There was a period when, despite their best efforts, the citizens of Solothurn allegedly did not get the rewards they deserved. Then, one day, an elf arrived from the city’s hills, and the locals began to prosper and improve their lives. Elf is a word that means “eleven” in German. Because of this, everyone here loves the number 11.
