A group of medical professionals at this location’s MKCG Medical College and Hospital executed a crucial procedure on a nine-year-old child who had the uncommon Cushing syndrome.
The endocrinology department admitted the girl, who is from Khandadeuli village, due to her obesity and hypertension. After assessing the youngster, endocrinology professor Ravi Kumar determined that the girl had Cushing syndrome.
Under the direction of dean Prof. SK Mishra, the medical team, which included pediatric surgeons, urologists, and anesthetists, performed the procedure. The procedure was carried out on April 9 and lasted for three hours. The child is said to be stable after the procedure. A laparoscopic bilateral adrenalectomy was the crucial procedure used to remove both adrenal glands.
According to Prof. Ravi, a rounded face, pink or purple stretch marks on the skin, and a fatty hump between the shoulders are some of the key signs of Cushing syndrome that may be brought on by an excess of cortisol.
In addition, type 2 diabetes, high blood pressure, and bone loss may result from Cushing syndrome. Radiation, surgery, and medication are the available therapy choices,” he said.
Less than one in two lakh persons have Cushing Syndrome, a rare syndrome brought on by a genetic abnormality known as primary pigmented nodular adrenocortical disease (PPNAD).
