Five Man-Eating Leopards Live in This Gorakhpur Zoo

Would you be interested in going to a zoo where there are five man-eating leopards, not just one, nor two, or three? After being saved, these leopards—who were notorious for attacking people violently—were housed at Gorakhpur, Uttar Pradesh, zoo. The feared leopards, who are under the watchful eye of several cops and wildlife experts, made headlines last year when they eluded wildlife guards and are said to have killed fifteen to twenty people.

Yogi Adityanath, the chief minister of Uttar Pradesh, opened the Shaheed Ashfaq Ullah Khan Zoological Park in Gorakhpur in 2021. The zoo’s captive animals include lions, tigers, leopards, hippopotami, deer, and chital. But it’s the five leopards at the zoo that both fascinate and terrify visitors.

Because these five man-eating leopards are all quite erratic, special enclosures have been designed for them in order to ensure the safety of guests coming to the zoo to have a spectacular time with their loved ones. Even though visitors are often thrilled to view these leopards, the untamed beasts growl as soon as they see a person.

These three leopards have been transported from Bijnor after being saved the previous year. These man-eater leopards were captured because of the sharp increase in man-animal conflict incidences in the area caused by these leopards. Balrampur was the source of the remaining pair. These leopards in Uttar Pradesh are being cared after by a group of specialized physicians. Both their treatment and nutrition are handled by the team. In an effort to protect humans, the hazardous creatures have been rescued and are being closely monitored, but they are still housed in five different cells.

Yogesh, the zoo’s doctor, said that the leopards are receiving therapy and that while they were formerly quite hostile, they are now gradually getting better. Yogesh said, however, that because they pose a danger to people, they cannot be let loose in any forest.
