How This UK Woman, Who Drank Four Bottles of Vodka Daily, Miraculously Averted Death

Have you ever pondered what would occur if someone began consuming four bottles of alcohol every day for an extended period of time? A lady who used to consume three litres (four 750ml bottles) of alcohol daily has recently made news for narrowly avoiding death. The lady had previously abstained from drinking, but within 36 months she developed an alcohol addiction, virtually sending her life into a downward spiral.

Doctors in the United Kingdom gave Charlotte Durcan of Colne, Lancashire, only 24 hours to live. The doctors said she wouldn’t survive, but just the fact that she did is miraculous. For the last three years, Charlotte has consumed four bottles of vodka every day, which has caused seizures and blackouts. Without alcohol, she would have seen trembling and perspiration, she realized.

She allegedly began drinking a pint of straight vodka every morning to stop herself from trembling. She would ask her relatives to buy her a drink when she was in a tight financial situation. She realized she had a severe addiction when she realized she couldn’t spend a day without drinking.

After spending a few days in the hospital, she was released and resumed drinking when she got home. When Charlotte ended up in intensive care due to various organ failures, her condition became critical. Her heart, liver, and kidneys were all discovered to be deteriorating. Her physicians then gave her a 24-hour deadline. Medical professionals removed two litres of fluid from Charlotte’s lungs while she was on oxygen. They called in her relatives. Amazingly, she managed to survive. She then healed while at a rehab facility.

She is now commemorating her time of recovery and works for a charity to raise awareness about alcoholism. According to reports, Charlotte thinks that not every case of alcoholism follows the same pattern. She said that being an alcoholic requires years of continuous drinking or that one must first begin as a casual drinker before going on binge-drinking binges and ultimately becoming an alcoholic. She said, “I was near to dying; my whole family believed I was about to pass away; however, I had no idea since I was so out of it. That was the result of my two years of binge drinking.
