In Baghpat, UP, Overflowing Ponds Flood Homes During Heavy Rainfall

With the start of the monsoon season, water logging has escalated into a major problem for the whole nation. Residents and commuters are inconvenienced by the extensive flooding and water buildup brought on by the heavy rain. Waterlogged roads are now causing safety issues and hampering transit in several cities and villages. People in Baghpat, Uttar Pradesh, have experienced disruptions to their daily life due to a circumstance quite similar to this.

Unexpected issues have surfaced in the Baghpat tehsil’s Mubarikpur hamlet, exposing the inadequacies of the government’s promises. Overflowing ponds have caused important highways to flood during a period of severe rain, disrupting commuters and locals. Additionally, the roadways have become muddy, increasing the possibility of pedestrian accidents and injuries. Despite many complaints, the authorities have not acted proactively to address these problems.

Village roads have been transformed into flooded lanes. Unfortunately, the situation has worsened due to the flooding of people’ homes caused by the ponds’ growing water levels. Due to the flooded major highways, both commuters and villages are experiencing severe challenges. Three of the Gram Panchayat’s five ponds have already begun to flood, which increases the urgency of the problem.

The overflowing pond not only inundated the major roadways but also reached Arvind’s home, a villager, who described the harsh effects of the downpour. There have been several demands for cleaning measures, but nothing has been done. The urgent need to clean the pond was also brought to the attention of the authorities, but unhappily, the issue has remained for a considerable amount of time without any resolution.

Concerns have been expressed regarding the possible spread of illnesses after the rain due to the pond’s deteriorating state as a result of inadequate upkeep. The neighborhood has urgently pleaded with the authorities to act right away by sanitizing the pond and securing its perimeter.

Ankit Singh, a villager, expressed worries about the ponds’ filthy condition as well as the dangerous habit of villager waste disposal in them. The contamination is worsened by this, and it becomes an issue when the ponds overflow in the rainy season. Due to the effects of contaminated and overflowing ponds, the neighborhood is now faced with major difficulties.
