UP Man Is Hospitalized After Discovering Dead Rat in Veg Meal from Mumbai’s Barbeque Nation

A 35-year-old Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh, lawyer was “served” a dead rat during a vegetarian lunch at Mumbai’s Barbeque Nation, which resulted in an unpleasant incident that sent him to the hospital. The victim, Rajeev Shukla, posted images of the dead rat floating in his food on social media and described the terrifying event that happened on and after January 8, 2024.

When Shukla ordered a Classic Veg Meal Box Regular online from Barbeque Nation in Worli while on a visit to Mumbai, the incidence took happened. He had no idea that his meal would include “extra protein” that he had not requested. When the food arrived, Shukla started eating, only to find cockroaches and a dead rat in the Dal Makhani. He then had stomach trouble and rushed to the government-run B Y L Nair Hospital for emergency care.

Shukla expressed his dismay by saying, “I came all the way from Prayagraj because I wanted to visit Mumbai, which I did, but this could be my final trip. Despite being a strict vegetarian and Brahmin, I had the worst shock of my life when my Barbeque Nation order came. There were bugs and a dead rat in the meal. I was hospitalized to Nair Hospital after contracting food sickness, the Free Press Journal said.

Shukla quickly sent Barbeque Nation an email outlining the problem with the contamination in his meal. He added, “I regrettably ate the most of the food that had rats and insects in it. Since I am a vegetarian, this is just not done. Moreover, it is terrible, and I feel like throwing up since I have already puked and it keeps coming back to me. The purpose of the food industry is to sustain human life, not to cause it.

Shukla heard back from the restaurant, but no one went to the hospital, so he was on his own for the costs. The response from “Manoj CRS Team, Barbeque Nation,” which seemed apathetic, said, “Dear Guest, We really regret any difficulty you may have had and value the time you invested in alerting us about it. I want to reassure you that your worries are very important to us.

Six days later, Shukla, fuming with resentment, aggravation, and annoyance, took things into his own hands and filed a formal complaint (FIR) at Nagpada Police Station against the owner, manager, and chef of Barbeque Nation.

In keeping with his pledge of openness, he even posted images of the legal paperwork on social media. There hasn’t been any noteworthy progress on the case as of yet.
