Watch: A woman steps outside in -30 degree Celsius and her hair freezes

Elvira Lundgren, a social media influencer from Sweden, decided to take a risk and experimented by submerging her hair in water to turn it into an ice crown in the very cold -30°C conditions in northern Sweden. She had no idea that the timing of her experiment would coincide with the nation’s coldest January night in 25 years, with lows of -40°C in certain parts of Finland and Sweden. The extreme cold made living difficult and interfered with traffic on the roads and trains. Elvira’s film, which depicts the difficulties individuals have on a daily basis in such severe weather, went viral extremely fast.

Elvira comes outdoors in -30°C temperatures as her hair is totally frozen, like a crown, as seen in the viral video. She tries to hold her hair up in the little clip, but it keeps falling down. Social media users are astonished to see close-ups of her frozen hair in the video. The video was posted on Instagram and has amassed over 93 lakh views in addition to many likes. The Swedish influencer shared the video on social media and said, “I just had to do a little experiment because temperatures have reached -30°C.”

“Did your mother never tell you that you’ll get your death from a cold going out with wet hair like that?” a person said in response to the video.

“I always wondered how it feels to stand that low temperature,” a commenter said.

“She went full Super Saiyan,” a user joked.

“Hair gel is not necessary. Legend,” someone wrote.

“-30 without a cap and warm clothes?,” someone said. I wish you luck.

In addition, a social media addict said, “Touching it can break it.”

SVT meteorologist Nils Holmqvist told Euro News, “It’s the coldest temperature we have had so far this winter and it will continue to be quite cold in the north.”

According to the webpage, the temperature dipped to -41.6 degrees Celsius in the northern Swedish settlement of Nikkaluokta and -43.6 degrees in Kvikkjokk-Arrenjarka. Following an autumn that was warmer than average over much of Europe—which was reportedly the hottest year on record—came these very cold temperatures. Climate change and global warming are linked to significant temperature changes.

Since it’s predicted that the week’s temperatures will remain below -40 degrees, the authorities have issued a severe warning. Police in Denmark warned drivers not to make needless excursions because of the hazardous wind and snow-related traffic conditions. Numerous schools in the area are closed due to the extreme weather, and there have been delays in transportation services, including the temporary suspension of rail and boat services.
