What type of harm are lizards capable of doing? Dr. Milan, a critical care expert from Rajkot’s Vedanta Hospital, provided commentary to News18 Gujarat on this subject. He said that while lizards are not deadly, they may nonetheless have an adverse effect on a child’s health.

Dr. Milan emphasized the need of parents regularly watching their children in the wake of the Surat event. This attention to detail is essential because issues might arise if a toddler ingests a lizard or any other bug whose excretions penetrate the child’s stomach. Even though they are not poisonous animals, lizards may nonetheless have a negative impact on a child’s health.

The doctor said that even though lizards are not poisonous, gastrointestinal problems might occur if a person or kid eats food that has come into touch with a lizard or lizard excreta. A lizard’s bite is not as dangerous. Nevertheless, ingesting or chewing on a lizard might have very negative effects. Salmonella bacterium, which may cause stomach illnesses, is carried by lizards.

This illness may cause symptoms including diarrhoea, vomiting, dehydration, and high blood pressure. Swallowing lizards often causes fright, which might result in a severe shock or even death. The Surat event should serve as a lesson to others.

The safety of children must be protected, hence lizards must be kept out of reach. In Sundargarh district’s Bandhpali village, which is under the control of the Sadar police station, a sad tragedy took place. The daughter of daily wage worker Ranjit Dandasena, who was three years old, died after consuming poisoned watery rice. She had to be hospitalized along with her elder sister who had eaten the tainted rice.
