Woman, 104, Skydives from 13,500 Feet to Prove Age Is Just A Number

What age do you think is best to pursue your dreams? Well, this 104-year-old lady from Chicago, Illinois, showed that age is not a barrier to achieving one’s goals. The ambitious goal of this century-old lady was to set a record for the oldest skydiver. And what’s this? After doing a tandem leap in northern Illinois from a height of 13,500 feet, she not only passed the exam but aced it.

She correctly said, “Age is just a number,” after touching down on October 1 at Skydive Chicago in Ottawa, Illinois, 140 kilometers southwest of Chicago. Dorothy Hoffner joined other thrill-seekers on Sunday, leaving her walker at home. A video of the amazing occasion was produced. The video starts out with Dorothy and her teacher using a parachute to fall from the sky. A round of applause and shouts broke out from the spectators as she touched down. The 104-year-old lady answered simply with “Fine” when asked how she was feeling.

Facebook users quickly flocked to the comment area to praise the elders for motivating them. “Wow! That’s fantastic! With Rogers, I leaped few years ago. What a rush!” a user said.

One spoke up to applaud her bravery and said, “Dorothy is unquestionably an outstanding lady. She is undoubtedly courageous.

“She is motivational. Just because someone is elderly doesn’t imply that they should be restricted in what they can accomplish. Another remark said, “My philosophy is to live tall because life is too short.”

At the age of 100, Dorothy Hoffner made her first jump attempt. She required a little encouragement from others to escape the plane on her first skydive, but she was more self-assured on this occasion. “Wonderful. Previously, a 103-year-old Swedish lady called Linnea Ingegard Larsson achieved the Guinness World Record for the oldest skydiver in May 2022. It’s important to remember that Hoffner’s record hasn’t been officially certified.
