West Indies captain Rovman Powell is attempting to persuade Sunil Narine to participate in the T20 World Cup

All-rounder Sunil Narine is being convinced to come out of international retirement for the domestic T20 World Cup in June, according to West Indies captain Rovman Powell.

Four years after he played his last match for the West Indies against India, Narine, 35, confirmed his retirement from international cricket in 2023.

The spinner is still playing in franchise cricket; he went from being a lower-order batsman to a show-stealing opener, and on Tuesday in the IPL, he demonstrated his batting ability to the fullest.

Even though Narine hit 109 off 56 balls and took two wickets, including Powell’s, the Rajasthan Royals managed to successfully chase down 224, led by an undefeated hundred from Jos Buttler, but it was not enough to win.

Powell said, “I’ve been whispering in his ears for the last 12 months, but he’s blocked out everyone.” Powell even encouraged more experienced players to attempt to persuade Narine to reconsider. “Hopefully, they can decipher his code before they choose the team.”

When asked whether he will come out of retirement to participate in the World Cup, when spinners are considered to have an advantage, Narine made a cryptic remark. “Let’s see what the future holds, but it is what it is,” Narine said. News reports

Buttler of RR never gave up on his faith.

Kolkata: Having seen “crazy things” in the IPL, Jos Buttler took inspiration from players like Mahendra Singh Dhoni and Virat Kohli to pull off the greatest run chase in the history of the competition on his own. On Tuesday, the Rajasthan Royals defeated Kolkata Knight Riders by two wickets thanks to Buttler’s unbeaten 107 from 60 balls. Even though the Englishman was having trouble walking near the finish, he persisted. “You’ve saw some strange stuff happen throughout the IPL. Individuals like as Dhoni and Kohli persevere and never give up. I was attempting to follow suit since you’ve seen it done so often in the IPL,” he said.
