In Begusarai, Bihar, a meat market bears the name of Union minister Giriraj Singh in response to the fiery BJP leader’s insistence that Hindus only eat “jhatka,” or the flesh of animals killed with a single strike to the blade. After meeting the proprietor, Giriraj Singh urged residents of his parliamentary constituency to build more Jhatka meat stores.

The Bengusarai MP said, “More Jhatka meat shops will be opened and expanded in the future, and I will personally promote their shop.”

The federal minister for rural development was seen talking with the people and stressing the importance of animal sacrifice in Hindu custom in a video that he posted on his X account.

“You defend your faith, and other people will defend theirs. We shall eat jhatka since it is (required) by our faith. Giriraj Singh declares, “We won’t stop others (from eating Halal).”

Singh also praised the store owner for naming his establishment “Giriraj Amar Jhatka Meat.”

In December of last year, Giriraj Singh forced his followers to swear that they would never longer compromise their “dharma” by consuming halal meat during his Begusarai rally.

In an interview with reporters, he said, “I respect Muslims who intentionally limit their meat consumption to halal.” Hindus have to now show a same dedication to their own sacred customs.”

“Hindus butcher their animals with jhatka. When Hindus sacrifice an animal, they do it in one stroke, or “bali.” They thus shouldn’t defile themselves by consuming halal meat. They have to adhere to jhatka at all times,” Singh remarked.

Additionally, he had emphasized the need of a new business plan that would include stores and abattoirs that would just offer jhatka meat.
