BJP Claims Leader Was Killed In Patna After Being Lashed By Police, But Administration

A BJP leader was killed when BJP workers and Patna Police got into a fight. During the fight, protesters were lathi-charged for having a “Vidhan Sabha march” to support teachers who wanted jobs. Reports say that BJP leader Vijay Kumar Singh, who is the party’s Jehanabad District General Secretary, was badly hurt in the fighting at Dakbangla Chauraha in the capital of Bihar. He was taken to the hospital right away, where he was pronounced dead.

Sushil Kumar Modi, a top BJP leader and former deputy chief minister, wrote, “Jehanabad district GS Vijay Kumar Singh died in a brutal police lathi charge after being arrested by Bihar police in Patna.” Singh was from Jehanabad district.

In a statement, however, the district government in Patna said that Singh was “found unconscious by the side of the road.” “No marks of injury have been found on his body,” he said, adding that Singh had been taken to PMCH, the biggest government hospital in the state.

The protests happen just a few days after the government got rid of the “domicile policy” in the Central Teachers’ Eligibility Test (CTET). Security guards fired several shots of tear gas at BJP workers to get them to leave the area.

The protest was against a change in the way teachers are hired. “On Thursday, the BJP is setting up a protest march against the new policy for hiring teachers. “The march will start at Gandhi Maidan and end at the state assembly gate,” said Nikhil Anand, a spokesman for the state BJP.

On July 11, people who wanted to be teachers protested in Patna against the government’s plan to hire 1.7 lakh teachers without regard to where they lived. This would let people from other states take part in the process. Some teachers joined the protest as well. According to a story from PTI, the Education Department had asked the local education officers to find these teachers.

The government of Bihar cancels teachers’ time off.
A government paper says that in response to BJP’s protests about the employment strategy, the Bihar government took away all teachers’ week-long breaks. The Education Department also asked the district judges to check the teachers’ attendance at all state-run schools on Thursday.

In the letters, the department did not explain why the instructions were given. The opposition BJP, on the other hand, said that the orders were given to stop teachers from joining a statewide protest against the new hiring policy.
