NIA and Bihar ATS conduct operations in Patna and Darbhanga; a student connected to PFI is detained

On Sunday, one person was taken into custody during a combined operation by the National Investigation Agency (NIA) and the Bihar Anti Terrorist Squad (ATS) in Patna and Darbhanga. NIA and Bihar ATS personnel allegedly worked together to conduct searches at Mohammad Riazuddin Kasmi’s book stand outside of Imarat-e-Saria in Phulwari Sharif, according to Darbhanga SSP Awakash Kumar. He said that the suspect was detained near the Darbhanga police station’s Bahera neighbourhood and claimed that he was a Patna student.

Notably, a PFI module was discovered in the Phulwari Sharif neighbourhood of Patna last year, exposing the organization’s operations a few months before it was outlawed.

Four of the 13 people who were detained in relation to the Phulwari Sharif module, the NIA said earlier in March, had charge sheets filed against them.
