BIHAR

Classes will now run from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. in Bihar

Quickly after Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar pledged to address the long school hours issue, the state’s Education Department announced a decrease in the number of school hours.

Schools will now run six hours a day, from 10 am to 4 pm, starting immediately, according to a late-Tuesday circular from Kanhaiya Prasad Srivastava, the Director of Secondary Education.

The choice was made in response to Chief Minister Nitish Kumar’s commitment made at a state assembly session earlier in the day.

His reassurance was given in the midst of raucous events in the parliament as opposition members protested the “inhuman” times by storming the House well.

According to PTI, Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar said, “The timings of schools for academic activities should be from 10 am to 4 pm only—it should not be from 9 am to 5 pm.”

Kumar acted quickly, saying, “I’ll contact the department’s competent officer right once and tell him to adjust the times. Members of the opposition, you ought to have informed me sooner. The revised hours are now set for 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.”

Schedule and Instructions
The updated schedule was first announced by the Education Department in November of last year, and it became official on December 1. Guidelines describing disciplinary measures against instructors who do not follow the updated timetable were supplied in addition to the schedule of classes.

It is expected that the shortened school day would allay worries about extended class periods and encourage a more equitable learning environment for all of Bihar’s pupils.
