Conduct of the Patna-Ranchi Vande Bharat Exp 2nd Trial

An official said that the Patna-Ranchi Vande Bharat Express successfully completed the first stage of the second trial run on Sunday.

According to the official, the semi-high-speed train from Patna arrived at Hatia station at about 1.36 pm and departed for Patna on its return trip at 3.55 pm.

At 10.10 p.m., the eight-coach express is supposed to arrive in Patna.

On June 12, a successful trial run from Patna to Ranchi and return was completed. The officer said, “This time it was extended until Hatia, the station after Ranchi.”

In Ranchi, the train arrived at 1:21 PM, some 16 minutes later than expected. A loco-pilot informed reporters that a variety of problems, including signalling, may sometimes cause such delays.

The last run of the train on this route is set on June 27, according to East Central Railway’s Chief Public Relations Officer (CPRO), Birendra Kumar, who works in the Hajipur zone.

When asked if there should be further trials, he said, “If the two trials satisfy higher authorities, no more will be required.”

At 6:55 am, the train departed from Patna and travelled between Sidhwar (Ramgarh) and Sanki (Ranchi), via bridges and tunnels. It made stops at the stations of Jehanabad, Gaya, Koderma, Hazaribag, Barkakana, and Ranchi.

It’s only a test run, so there may be many of stops. The route’s final rest stops have not yet been chosen, he added.

There are four tunnels along the 27-km route between Sidhwar (Ramgarh) and Sanki (Ranchi), the largest of which is 1.7 km long and the other three are each around 600 m long.

The new route between Koderma and Ranchi through Barkakana was approved to be operationalized in December of last year after a safety inspection and speed trial on the 27-km track between Sidhwar and Sanki. This was done by the commissioner of railway safety (CRS) in Kolkata.
