Rohini Acharya, Lalu’s Daughter, Will Run in the LS Polls? What Reports Indicate

It is said that Rohini Acharya, the daughter of RJD supremo Lalu Prasad Yadav, who is living in Singapore and gave a kidney to save her sick father in 2022, may contest in the forthcoming Lok Sabha Elections in 2024.

There are several rumours that Lalu’s second daughter, Rohini Acharya, may run for the Saran Lok Sabha seat in the upcoming elections. After her mother Rabri Devi, brothers Tejashwi and Tej Pratap Yadav, sister Misa Bharti, father Lalu Prasad, and sister, she will be the sixth member of her family to join active politics.

Rohini Acharya will contest in the Lok Sabha elections?
Workers of the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) are reportedly pressuring Rohini to run for Lok Sabha from the Saran seat. A close aide to the Yadav family, Councillor Sunil Kumar Singh, said on social media that the people in the constituency, workers, and supporters want Lalu’s daughter to run for office from the Saran seat.

The tweet added fire to the rumours that Rohini may enter politics.

Rohini recently performed on stage with her family and prominent leaders of the INDIA bloc at the RJDs at the Jan Aashirwad Rally earlier this month.

Yadav household and governance
With the exception of Rohini Acharya, every member of RJD president Lalu Prasad Yadav’s family is now involved in politics.

Lalu’s older son Tej Pratap Yadav was a minister in the previous Mahagathbandhan regime until it was overthrown after Chief Minister Nitish Kumar’s volte face. Rabri Devi, the wife of Lalu, was formerly the Chief Minister of Bihar and is presently an RJD MLA.

Tejashwi Yadav, Lalu’s younger son and presumed successor, served as the government’s deputy chief minister under the Nitish leadership. In the Bihar legislative assembly, Tejashwi holds the role of Leader of Opposition at the moment.

Misa Bharti, his other daughter, is an MP for the Rajya Sabha.

Rohini Acharya: who is she?
With an MBBS, Rohini Acharya, 44, is a doctor by trade. She is wed to software developer Samresh Singh, who works in Singapore. In 2002, Rohini wed Samresh, and the couple now has two sons as children. Over the last 20 years, the couple has resided in Singapore and the United States.

When Acharya gave her sick father one of her kidneys in 2022, the news was abuzz. Her kind deed gained her a lot of fans and even brought praise from Dr. Nishikant Dubey and Giriraj Singh, two competing BJP leaders.

Notably, there were also rumours circulating during the 2017 Bihar Assembly elections about her making her political debut, but they never materialised.
