Beginning on December 1st, Google will deactivate accounts that are dormant for two years

Google updated the inactivity time for a Google Account to two years across all of its products and services in an email addressed to its billions of users on Saturday.

Any Google Account that has been inactive for the last two years will be affected by this change, which is now being implemented.

From December 1, 2023, an inactive account and any associated material will be subject to deletion, according to the tech giant.

If your Google Account has been dormant for more than two years or if you haven’t used it to sign in to any Google services in that time, these changes won’t affect you.

While the modifications are already in place, Google said that the earliest any accounts will be deleted would be in December 2023.

Before taking any action or deleting any account material, Google will send many reminder emails to users and their recovery emails (if any have been supplied), if the account is deemed inactive.

Before anything is done to your account, these reminder emails will be sent out for at least 8 months. The Gmail address associated with a deleted Google Account cannot be used to sign up for a new Google Account thereafter, according to the firm.

Signing into the account at least once every two years is the easiest approach to keep a Google Account active.

According to the business, if you have recently checked in to your Google Account in the last two years, your account is deemed current and won’t be erased.
