LIC warns users not to fall for deceptive social media ads that use its name or emblem

Life Insurance Corporation (LIC) issued a warning to the public on Wednesday about certain people or organizations that are utilizing the company’s name and emblem, as well as the picture of top executives, for fraudulent advertising purposes on social media platforms.

LIC urged the public and its policyholders to be cautious and confirm the legitimacy of any such ads in a post on X, the former Twitter.

We have discovered that certain people and/or organizations are exploiting our senior officials’ or former officials’ images, our brand name, and our logo in an unauthorized way on social media platforms in order to engage in fraudulent advertising operations. We want to make the public aware of these dishonest practices,” LIC said in a notification to the public.

On LIC’s official social media channels, it requested that the public to report URL URLs to such bogus adverts.

“We are dedicated to making sure that policyholders and the general public are not misled by such deceptive advertising practices,” LIC said, adding that it would “pursue appropriate legal action and those found engaging in fraudulent activities using our brand without authorization.”
