Mumbai Airport Saw A 23% Increase In Passenger Traffic In May, According To CSMIA

Mumbai Airport, which is owned by the Adani Group, said on Friday that it had a 23% increase in passenger traffic year over year to 43,43,806 passengers in May, indicating a significant uptick in air travel.

In May of previous year, the airport handled a total of 35 lakh people.

The airport saw an increase in both domestic and foreign passenger counts throughout the time period, the private airport operator stated, supported by its robust connections and infrastructure.

Additionally, it said that the airport’s domestic and international revenue had increased by more than 100% since Covid’s departure.

In May 2023, 2,109,607 passengers arrived at the Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport (CSMIA) in Mumbai, while 2,234,199 passengers left, according to the airport’s statistics.

The Mumbai Airport had an 8% rise in passenger traffic between May 2023 and April 2023 (40,14,823 passengers), demonstrating the airport’s steady expansion.

The facility handled 26,054 ATMs in the previous month alone, according to the CSMIA, which also reported a spike in air traffic movements (ATMs).

With a total of 1,51,356 passengers on May 27, including 76,037 arrivals and 75,319 departures, the CSMIA saw significant passenger movement figures.

Delhi, Bengaluru, and Chennai were the top three domestic destinations in terms of volume, with 2,77,911 arrivals and 2,76,192 departures, the report said.

According to the report, Dubai experienced a stunning 1,00,581 arrivals and 1,13,859 departures on the international routes, followed by Abu Dhabi and Singapore.
