WB Governor Approaches ISRO to Aid in Preventing Ragging Following the Death of a Student at Jadavpur University

The Indian Space Research Organization, or ISRO, has offered assistance with cutting-edge technology to stop ragging across university campuses in West Bengal in the wake of the Chandrayan 3 mission’s success. The chairman of ISRO, S. Somanath, was called by the state governor and chancellor of the institutions, Dr. CV Ananda Bose, to discuss the best technology to stop ragging on university campuses in the state. This comes after a first-year undergraduate student who was reportedly raped and sexually abused in a Jadavpur University dormitory earlier this month passed away.

“CV Ananda Bose, Hon’ble Governor of West Bengal and Chancellor of the Universities, contacted the Chairman of ISRO for identifying appropriate technology to effectively contain and eliminate the menace of ragging in the university campuses,” according to a statement released by Raj Bhavan.

ISRO is now working to build an acceptable technological solution employing a variety of tools, including remote sensing, picture matching, and video analytics. JU VC has been given permission to pursue the situation.

Governor Ananda Bose also spoke with ADRIN, Hyderabad, on the problem of ragging and how to stop it. The governor said in the statement that “they are attempting to develop an appropriate technology solution using a variety of sources such as video analytics, image matching, automatic target recognition, and remote sensing.”

13 individuals, including current and past pupils, have been detained in relation to the passing of the JU undergraduate student. According to sources, the kid spent an hour being stripped down and paraded around the guys’ dorm nude before he passed away. 13 people have been detained by Kolkata police in this case so far, including both past and present university students.
