Actor Humayun Saeed from Pakistan believes “Mere Paas Tum Ho” introduced him to Indian audiences

Humayun Saeed, a Pakistani actor, is looking forward to the premiere of the Indian love drama “Mere Paas Tum Ho” and has praised everyone’s efforts to promote friendly ties between the two nations.

The show ‘Mere Paas Tum Ho, starring Humayun Saeed, Ayeza Khan, and Adnan Siddiqui, revolves around the unique and not-so-usual plot of how a married woman ‘Mehwish’ (Ayeza) gets attracted and carried away by a manipulative rich businessman ‘Shehwaar Ahmed’ (Adnan), and eventually goes on developing an extramarital affair with him, leaving her naive husband ‘Danish Akhtar’ (Humayun) and son shredded with tears.

Will Danish be able to forgive Mehwish, and how will this love triangle end? It will now debut for the first time on Indian television screens. The serial garnered enormous popularity after its August 2019 debut, surpassing all audience figures with over 599 million viewers for the year.

Humayun told IANS that if he was nervous about the reception in India, “The play was successful in Pakistan. The Indians had furthermore seen it on YouTube. Then, I started getting calls from India. Love was being expressed via comments and texts. And I got the impression that this drama was my introduction to India.

 

“I visited India when Zee launched its channel Zindagi, and I enjoyed that people were recognizing me there. However, I am pleased with the level at which this drama will now be released in India. I’m also excited that anything like this will take place. I value the work that everyone put in. Whatever the situation, some individuals are working to preserve the peace and friendly ties between the two countries. We should encourage whomever is making this effort, he continued.

 

He continued by saying that since our cultures and languages are similar, Pakistani plays and movies must be released in India and Indian dramas should be shown in Pakistan.

The 51-year-old actor was asked what makes this play accessible and hence likely to be remembered by Indian viewers. He said, “This sort of play which speaks about the extramarital affair — this is something which anybody can connect to. People appreciate watching such programs when the narrative of extramarital affairs is presented with a wonderful storyline, excellent director, and top-notch acting.

He also said that when the program was first created, several people believed the plot would be unsafe. “But now that it’s so well-liked in Pakistan, I think India’s population is so sizable that they can surely connect to it. And I’ve found that whatever is popular in Pakistan also tends to be popular in India, and the opposite is also true, he said.

Humayun finished by noting that because of how captivating the tale is, both male and female viewers are equally interested in it.

Ayeza expressed her delight at the song “Mere Paas Tum Ho’s” astounding popularity, noting that it had crossed international boundaries and won the hearts of Indian audiences.

“Now, the thought of a large audience enjoying the play throughout the world offers a profound feeling of contentment. It is evidence of the potency of narrative and the capacity of excellent material to unite individuals from different backgrounds and cultures. It is really wonderful to see the enormous love and support we have gotten from viewers, both in Pakistan and India. It confirms the ubiquity of human emotions and the narrative relevance of the program, she said.

Mere Paas Tum Ho, a program written by the well-regarded Khalil-ur-Rehman Qamar, will start airing on Zee’s Zindagi DTH channel on Wednesday, August 2.
