AR Rahman and Amitabh Bachchan will receive the Mangeshkar Family Awards

The music legend A R Rahman will get the “Master Deenanath Mangeshkar Award” the following week, while Bollywood actor Amitabh Bachchan will receive the “Lata Deenanath Mangeshkar Puraskar” during an event planned here on April 24, according to the organizers.

The renowned Mangeshkar family nurtures the Master Deenanath Mangeshkar Smruti Pratisthan in Pune, which bestows this prize. Bachchan will receive it together with a musical remembrance on the 82nd anniversary of his passing.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi (2022) and seasoned vocalist Asha Bhosale (2023) received the first award earlier for their extraordinary, groundbreaking, and model services to the nation, its citizens, and society.

In addition to Bachchan and Rahman, notable recipients in various categories include: “Ghalib,” which won Best Marathi Play of the Year; the NGO Deepstambh Foundation Manobal of Jalgaon; actress Padmini Kolhapure; singer Roopkumar Rathod; journalist S B Torsekar; actor Atul Parchure; producer and actor Randeep Hooda; and litterateur Manjiri Phadke.

Hridaynath and Usha Mangeshkar, siblings, revealed the recipients’ list. On April 24, Asha Bhonsle will administer the honors.

That evening, the Pratisthan and Hridayesh Arts are organizing a musical homage to Lata Mangeshkar including renowned vocalist Vibhavari Apte-Joshi and her ensemble.
