Dan Aykroyd Discusses His Impressions on the Ghostbusters Film Franchise: “I adore that.”

blockbusters: Fans of the beloved series are flocking to the cinemas to see Frozen Empire, which has a fantastic reception from fans worldwide and an exceptional box office performance. Dan Aykroyd, who has been a part of the iconic series from the beginning, discusses what struck him about it as the movie gets ready for its premiere in India.

“What really impressed me was the way Jason and Gil have continued the story in ways that feel drawn from the DNA we drew up in 1984,” says executive producer and Ray Stantz Dan Aykroyd, who is reprising his role in the series. In the end, they were just average guys—and now, an ordinary family—who taunt, push, and joke about with each other, but they also take their responsibility to protect the planet from horrific ghostly threats very seriously. That combo looks fantastic on the large screen.

In Gil Kenan’s “Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire,” the Spengler family triumphantly makes their way back to the famous New York City firehouse where it all started. To take ghost-busting to new heights, they team up with the original Ghostbusters, who have set up a top-secret research facility. But when they unearth an old relic, they unintentionally unleash a malevolent energy that might trigger a second Ice Age. To defend their home and prevent the end of the world, the Ghostbusters—both old and new—must band together.

Paul Rudd, Carrie Coon, Finn Wolfhard, Mckenna Grace, Kumail Nanjiani, Patton Oswalt, Celeste O’Connor, Logan Kim, Bill Murray, Dan Aykroyd, Ernie Hudson, and Annie Potts are among the diverse cast members in the movie. The teaser, which debuted earlier this year, featured the Spengler family’s younger generation pursuing a career in the paranormal.

Together with Bill Murray, Ernie Hudson, Dan Aykroyd, and Annie Potts, they comprise the original Ghostbusters crew. These veterans established an elite covert laboratory research facility to investigate ghosts and develop them using scientific techniques. But when an evil power is unleashed by the discovery of a ball-shaped artifact, both new and old Ghostbusters gather under one roof to collaborate and rescue the planet from an impending threat – the second Ice Age.

On April 26, 2024, Sony Pictures Entertainment India exclusively opens Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire in Indian theaters in Hindi and English.
