For the First Time Since Filing An FIR Regarding A Deepfake Video, Ranveer Singh Is Seen in Public

Following the viral success of Rashmika Mandanna, Alia Bhatt, and Nora Fatehi’s deepfake videos, there was a general uproar against the improper use of technology and the lack of sufficient legal protections that have enabled this dangerous use of artificial intelligence (AI) to proliferate. And now, Ranveer Singh has fallen prey to the newest threat plaguing the film business. Ranveer Singh made his debut in public since an official FIR has been filed in this instance.

On Monday, a video of Ranveer Singh leaving the airport was posted by well-known paparazzo account Sneh Zala. The actor from Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani donned gray cargo trousers, grey t-shirts, and a satin black jacket. In addition, he had on sunglasses, a hat, and a mask to hide his face. According to reports, the actor went back to Mumbai from Hyderabad. Additionally, Ranveer indulged a fan with a selfie before hopping in his vehicle.

In the meantime, a FIR has been filed for further investigation by the Cyber Crime Cell, according to a recent confirmation from Ranveer Singh’s official spokeswoman, who made the complaint on behalf of the police. “Yes, we have filed the police complaint and an FIR has been lodged against the handle that was promoting the AI-generated deepfake video of Mr. Ranveer Singh (sic),” the spokesman said in a statement.

In an artificial intelligence (AI)-produced deepfake video, the actor seems to be discussing politics. The actor’s recent trip to Varanasi is captured on camera, but the audio is a voice clone created using artificial intelligence. Singh might be seen in the video pleading with voters to support “Nayay (justice)” in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections. It was eventually made clear, however, that the viral video had been altered and changed. In addition, Ranveer addressed the matter and issued a social media warning, writing on X, “Deepfake se bacho dostonnnn.”

Aamir Khan, the popular actor from Bollywood, was seen endorsing a political party in another deepfake video that went viral earlier this month on social media. Following widespread public interest in the video, Mumbai police acted and filed a formal complaint (FIR) against an unidentified individual. Khan’s office filed a police report (FIR) at the Khar Police station, citing pertinent parts of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) such as 419 (impersonation), 420 (cheating), and other Information Technology Act sections.
