Kargil Vijay Diwas: 5 Bollywood Films To Binge Watch Inspired By The Indo-Pak War, From Shershah To Lakshya

Every year on July 26, Kargil Vijay Diwas is observed to honor India’s victory over Pakistan in the Kargil War of 1999. The conflict in 1999 erupted when the Pakistani Army unlawfully captured Indian territory near the Line of Control in Kargil, lasting more than 60 days, from May 3 to July 26.

Since the 24th anniversary of the Kargil War, Bollywood has also honored the valiant troops who gave their lives in defense of our country. Let’s look at some Bollywood movies based on the 1999 Kargil War that were inspired by the actual events.

Shershaah

Sidharth Malhotra and Kiara Advani played the key parts in “Shershaah,” which tells the forgotten tale of Captain Vikram Batra, who died during the battle to retake position 4875 in Kargil from the Pakistani forces. The Kargil Girl, Gunjan Saxena

The movie, which stars Janhvi Kapoor, is based on the true life of former Air Force pilot Gunjan Saxena, who made history by being the first Indian woman to fly in combat. The movie, which is accessible on Netflix, also stars Pankaj Tripathi and Angad Bedi in significant parts.

Lakshya

This blockbuster movie starring Hrithik Roshan chronicles the life of a lost and confused young man who enlists in the army and is now preparing to fight in the Kargil War. Preity Zinta, Amitabh Bachchan, Boman Irani, and Om Puri play significant parts in the Farhan Akhtar-directed movie. The movie is available to watch on Netflix and Amazon Prime Video.

J.P. Dutta is the director of the film, which follows the Kargil War from its commencement to its conclusion. Sanjay Dutt, Ajay Devgn, Abhishek Bachchan, Nagarjuna, Ashutosh Rana, Saif Ali Khan, Raveena Tandon, Esha Deol, Mahima Chaudhary, and Rani Mukerji all had significant parts in the ensemble picture. The events of Captain Anuj Nayyar, MVC of the Indian Army’s 17 Jat Regiment, who died during operations against Pakistani forces during the Kargil War, are the focus of the 2003 movie. The narrative reflects the actual occurrences in the lives of the Nayyar family. The major actors in the movie are Revathi, Om Puri, Gul Panag, and Sanjay Suri.
