Meet the 72-year-old, Asia’s highest-paid actor, who makes Rs 280 cr each film—more than Shah Rukh, Salman, Akshay, and Prabhas combined

Hong Kong used to be the epicenter of Asian film power. Global superstars like as Bruce Lee and Jackie Chan were the most well-known personalities to come out of the continent. That changed in Bollywood’s favor in the twenty-first century when actors like Shah Rukh Khan and Akshay Kumar became well-known around the world. However, as of right now, a Tamil Nadu-born actor is the highest-paid celebrity in Asia. The amusing part is that he is seventy-two years old.

Rajinikanth, the superstar from Tamil cinema, is now the highest-paid actor in Asia. The actor’s next film appearance will be in Lokesh Kanagaraj’s Coolie, which is Rajni’s 171st leading role. Rajinikanth has reportedly demanded Rs 280 crore for the movie, including a profit-sharing arrangement. This surpasses both the Rs 275 crore that Aamir Khan made for Dangal back in 2016–17 and his Rs 250 crore salary for Leo. This indicates that, at 72, Thalaivar is the highest paid actor in Asia.

For a very long time, Rajinikanth solely took upfront payments for his movies. However, he has divided his profits between fees and profit-sharing during the last ten years, same like his Bollywood juniors. However, his fees are still Rs 100 crore, which is more than most other celebrities in the nation. Rajni stands to make about Rs 200 crore from each blockbuster when you consider that his films are again making a profit again (Jailer grossed over Rs 600 crore globally).

For Pathaan and Jawan, Shah Rukh Khan allegedly made over Rs 200 crore each, albeit not nearly to the stratospheric heights that Rajni is reaching. The current Telugu superstar, Prabhas, on the other hand, demands a fixed price of Rs 150 crore for his films. A low point in their careers is being experienced by other celebrities like Salman and Akshay Kumar, which implies that their profit-sharing isn’t bringing in much money for them.
