Oh Yeon Soo and Han Suk Kyu Reunite for Thriller Drama After 31 Years

Fans of Korean dramas are overjoyed to learn that actress Oh Yeon Soo and Han Suk Kyu will be reuniting in the forthcoming MBC drama Such a Close Traitor (working title), marking their third decade apart. Since its announcement on April 16, this much awaited psychological thriller has been the buzz of the town. Han Suk Kyu plays Jang Tae Soo, Korea’s finest profiler, in the drama. While investigating a murder, he learns a startling fact about his daughter that puts him in a difficult moral position. Han Ye Ri as Lee Eoh Jin, a police officer, and Chae Won Bin as Jang Ha Bin, Jang Tae Soo’s daughter, will be accompanying him.

Oh Yeon Soo will portray Yoon Ji Su, the mother of Jang Ha Bin and the ex-wife of Jang Tae Soo. An additional element of mystery to the plot is added by her character, who is at the core of the enigmatic father-daughter connection.

For Han Suk Kyu, this drama is especially significant since it’s his first on MBC in over three decades, having left the network in 1995 with his final performance in Hotel. Additionally, it’s the first time Han Suk Kyu and Oh Yeon Soo have been together on television in almost 31 years, having previously collaborated in the 1993 MBC drama Son and Daughter. Expectations for the forthcoming season are higher even, since their representation of a divorced couple is anticipated to add a lot of emotions and depth to their characters.

According to Soompi, Such a Close Traitor is expected to be published in the second half of 2024. Song Yeon Hwa, who has directed films including Hunted, When I Was the Most Beautiful, and The Red Sleeve, is directing this one.
