Outside Salman’s home, shots are fired. The man’s shocked father describes his detained son as “a simple person, working in Jalandhar.”

The father of Sagar Pal, who was detained on Tuesday for reportedly shooting outside Salman Khan’s home, Joginder Shah, expressed his dismay at learning of his son’s participation in the crime.

A day after they opened fire outside Khan’s Bandra apartment on Sunday, Mumbai Police have detained Sagar Pal (21), a native of Mahsi village in Bihar’s West Champaran region, and Vicky Gupta (24), a resident of Gujarat’s Kutch.

“When I discovered via social media that he was involved, I was genuinely horrified… We’re not sure how that took place. He had never committed a crime before.”

Shah, a daily wager, told reporters, “He was a simple person… he was working in Jalandhar (Punjab), I don’t know how he reached Mumbai.”

Pal and Gupta fired five shots outside Khan’s house, according to Mumbai Police, and were then on the run. On Monday night, they were taken from a hamlet in Gujarat’s Kutch area.

D Amarkesh, the superintendent of police for West Champaran, said that no one from the accused’s family has been taken into custody.
