Why Was Jenna Ortega’s Miller’s Girl on Netflix Hold Up? Discover

In today’s business, Jenna Ortega is a highly sought-after name. She hasn’t looked back after getting recognition for her performance in The Fallout (2021). She also became well-known after appearing in Wednesday on Netflix. She seemed braver in her most recent film, Miller’s Girl, an erotic thriller written and directed by Jade Halley Bartlett. Critics praised her acting abilities very highly.

 

On January 26, 2024, Lionsgate released the film in theaters throughout the United States. Additionally, Netflix said that the film’s digital release date is April 25. Still not available on the streaming service, however. Despite some outstanding performances by each cast member, Jenna Ortega and Martin Freeman’s seductive film Miller’s Girl was a general failure to capture the interest of viewers. On Rotten Tomatoes, it currently has a 42% audience score.

In Miller’s Girl, performed by Martin Freeman, Jenna Ortega plays Cairo Sweet, a young girl with a gift for writing who catches the eye of her instructor, Jonathan Miller. The official Miller’s Girl summary is as follows:

“When a gifted young writer named Jenna Ortega’s instructor, Martin Freeman, offers her an assignment that draws them both into an ever-more intricate web, she sets out on a creative journey. Professor and protégé must face their worst sides as boundaries blur and their lives entwine, all the while fighting to maintain their unique sense of purpose and the things they value most.”

Additionally, it was scheduled to release digitally a few days ago. There is still no indication of Miller’s Girl on Netflix after four days. Fans are not pleased about it, either.

Many people asked questions on the delay on Netflix’s official X account. but the massive streaming platform did not respond.

Given that the film opened the next day, on April 26, maybe they passed a test of patience. And thus the supporters’ much-anticipated excitement came to an end.

In the film, Ortega and Freeman are 31 years apart in age. Both reviewers and fans had harsh things to say about how their relationship is portrayed in the film.

The actors’ 31-year age difference is another reason why many are unhappy with the s*x scenes between them. And a lot of people called the movie “gross.”

But according to director Jade Halley Bartlett, there was excellent chemistry. Finding individuals who get along or who have the appropriate level of sensitivity to one another, in my opinion, is key. To be honest, I’m not sure. However, Martin and Jenna both grasped these personalities rather well and didn’t need any guidance from me. They were thus well versed in the lines when we started filming. Obviously, there is a lot of conversation in this. Thus, they entered the room as if performing a play, Bartlett said to Screen Rant.

Whatever the producers may argue, most viewers did not like the sensual portrayal of the stars, who are quite different in age.
