The director said that he should have renounced the movie since he was dissatisfied with the visual effects in an exclusive interview with Mid-Day.

Everyone says, “No, there will be a significant loss.” You need to change your name to Sanjay Leela Bhansali at that point since, regardless of the amount of damage, things wouldn’t proceed that way. In addition, he argued that he ought to have repudiated Rangoon, just like Shekhar Kapur. He laughed and remarked, “I should have learned from Shekhar Kapur and disowned the movie.” Though he added, “I don’t blame others for my own mistakes,” Vishal said that his VFX supervisor had “ditched him” because he was interested in directing his own short film.

He discussed the movie’s budget. “You’re sorry about those choices. I have no regrets about my original idea for Rangoon. It was so distinct and pure. Of course, I am being silly if I decide to create a picture for Rs 35 crore when it should have cost Rs 70 crore,” he said.

Saif Ali Khan, Shahid Kapoor, and Kangana Ranau played the main roles in Rangoon. The movie’s box office performance was poor.

The filmmaker recently said that he had intended to work with Shah Rukh Khan on a movie called 2 States, but the project was scrapped because of artistic differences. “We couldn’t agree on where to place it.
