Sakshi Malik, Ajay Banga, Satya Nadella, and Alia Bhat in TIME Magazine’s list of the 100 Most Influential People

Time magazine’s “100 Most Influential People” list for 2024 includes Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella, Bollywood starlet Alia Bhatt, World Bank President Ajay Banga, and British actor of Indian ancestry, Dev Patel.

Sakshi Malik, the first female wrestler from India to win an Olympic gold, is another well-known Indian on the list. She spearheaded the demonstration against former Wrestling Federation of India (WFI) president Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh’s alleged sexual harassment of female grapplers.

Sakshi said on X, “Proud to be included in the 2024 #TIME100 list.”

Alia’s first Hollywood effort, the streaming movie “Heart of Stone,” was directed by Tom Harper, who bestowed accolades upon the actress, referring to her as a “truly international star.”

In spite of her notoriety, Alia remains humble and witty on set. Her approach to work exudes elegance as she is methodical, receptive to ideas, and not afraid to take chances. An improvisation at the conclusion of a take when she ran with the emotional thread was one of my favorite scenes in the movie.

“Alia’s strength lies in her ability to blend sensitive and real with movie-star attraction. She is a bright actress who also has the kind of grounded confidence and inventiveness that genuinely makes an international star.

The only Bollywood actor included in Time magazine is Alia.

Astronomer Priyamvada Natarajan, top US Department of Energy official Jigar Shah, and chef and rights activist Asma Khan are among the other people on the list having an Indian connection.

Oscar-winning American actress Da’Vine Joy Randolph, singer-songwriter Dua Lipa, and actors Jeffrey Wright and Colman Domingo are also featured in the film.

Film celebrities Elliot Page, Michael J. Fox, Sofia Coppola, Taraji P. Henson, and Hayao Miyazaki are all included on the list.
