The Madras High Court will hear a PIL to revoke the UA certificate for the Rajinikanth-starrer “Jailer”

The Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) will be instructed to rescind the UA certificate awarded to the Rajinikanth-starring film “Jailer,” which permits minors under the age of 12 to see the picture with parental supervision, during the Madras High Court’s hearing of a public interest lawsuit (PIL).

The plea, which was submitted by an attorney called M.L. Ravi, is set to be heard by a bench made up of Chief Justice S.D. Gangapurwala and Justice P.D. Adikesavalu the following week.

The plaintiff said that the film contains various violent sequences that are inappropriate for minors to view, including head- and ear-chopping.

The petitioner claimed that both the US and the UK had given the identical movie a “Adult” only (A) rating.

The PIL said that there is a moment in the movie where the antagonist hangs individuals upside down and bashes their skulls with a hammer, and that there is another scene in which the antagonist beheads someone.

According to Advocate Ravi, the CBFC certification rules for movies oblige the board to make sure that violent or anti-social behavior isn’t endorsed or justified in a movie.

The producer of the movie, Sun Pictures, and the director, Nelson Dileepkumar, were also included as respondents to the PIL in addition to the CBFC Chairman and the Regional Officer of the censor board in Chennai.
