This disaster, which cost Rs 30 crore and starred two celebrities, ruined the careers of the director and star youngster

Even the biggest stars in a movie can’t always win over the crowd and turn a profit at the box office. Despite featuring celebrities in the major roles, movies like Adipurush, Shamshera, Kalank, and others failed at the box office. Two well-known actors starred in another poorly received film, which also put a stop to the filmmaker’s career.

The film in question was produced for a mere Rs 30 crore, and both reviewers and viewers had conflicting opinions when it was first released. Even though it starred Emraan Hashmi and Amitabh Bachchan, the movie was a box office flop. It’s Chehre, that’s for sure.

The mystery-thriller film Chehre was directed by Rumi Jaffery and Saraswati Entertainment Private Limited producer Anand Pandit. Along with Krystle D’Souza, Rhea Chakraborty, Siddhanth Kapoor, Annu Kapoor, Alexx O’Nell, Samir Soni, Dhritiman Chatterjee, and Raghubir Yadav in supporting parts, the film has an ensemble cast that includes Amitabh Bachchan and Emraan Hashmi in the key roles.

The pandemic caused delays for the movie, and when it was eventually shown in theaters, it was a commercial failure. Despite costing Rs 30 crore to make, the movie only made Rs 4.3 crore globally. The film was Rumi Jaffery’s last production to date, and the creators lost Rs 26 crore.

In addition, Siddhant Kapoor, the son of Shakti Kapoor, who has not since appeared in a Bollywood movie, acted in the movie. He did, however, star in the relatively forgotten OTT film Aseq. One of the film’s key protagonists, Krystle D’Souza, hasn’t been in any TV series or motion pictures since then and has stepped back from the spotlight. Along with Rhea Chakraborty, who vanished from Bollywood, Roadies was her return to reality television.

Emraan Hashmi, meanwhile, was most recently seen in the hugely successful film Tiger 3. The next film starring him is called OG. Amitabh Bachchan’s next film appearance will be in Kalki 2898 AD, which is slated for release this year and also stars Prabhas, Deepika Padukone, Kamal Haasan, and Disha Patani.
