Throwback: When Kriti Sanon said that celebrity kids have sometimes supplanted her in films

Kriti Sanon, who made her Bollywood debut in the 2014 movie “Heropanti,” spoke out on the difficulties of being an outsider in the business in a recent interview.
She spoke candidly with Pinkvilla a few years ago about the widespread problem of nepotism, including situations in which celebrity children took her place in movie roles. Notwithstanding the obstacles, Sanon has shown her abilities in a variety of films since making her feature debut, such as “Housefull 4,” “Dilwale,” “Raabta,” “Bareilly Ki Barfi,” and “Luka Chuppi.”

Her most recent role, costarring with Prabhas and Saif Ali Khan in “Adipurush,” sparked debate after its June release and drew criticism for a variety of factors, including the movie’s script and clothes.

Kriti said, “I’m very ambitious and I know that I have the potential to do a lot more,” as she considered her professional path. I’d want to collaborate with a few A-list filmmakers. I have a lot of wonderful chances, but when I compare them, there are a couple more that I would really want to have. There is still a distinction. Reaching out to directors is OK with me. I wouldn’t need to seek it out if I had come from a family in the film industry. I would have already had some interaction with them and they would already know who I am. But eventually, only the job you’ve done speaks. To kind of get there, it definitely takes a lot longer or more successful films and performances.”
“I don’t know if they dialled the phone or not, but someone who was from a film family, or there was a little more buzz about that person, had replaced me,” she said, without mentioning anybody in particular. In other words, it has occurred, but I’m not sure why. It’s possible that the director really desired that individual. It has occurred many times. You become a little irritated by it and feel uncomfortable. After a certain point, what more can you do? However, everyone has a certain amount of success and failure. There is a reason why some things occur or do not. Occasionally, I haven’t had the success with a film that I really wanted to accomplish. Thus, maybe some of it was beneficial.”
