Unique! Ishaan Khatter’s mother will no longer be portrayed by Mallika Sherawat

Mallika, who rose to fame with her breakthrough performance in Khwahish (2003) and thereafter starred in films such as Dhamaal and Welcome, was last seen in Rajat Kapoor’s RK/RKay in 2022. The actress was originally scheduled to appear in Pritish Nandy’s next web series, The Royals, starring Bhumi Pednekar and Ishaan Khatter.

Mallika may have even participated in the project’s look test. Pyaar Ke Side Effects, their 2006 hit film, would have been Mallika and Pritish’s first successful joint venture together.But rumour has it that Mallika chose not to participate in the project. In the series, she was meant to portray Ishaan’s mother.

According to a trustworthy source close to the actress, Mallika was undecided about taking on the role of a mother. She could play one, however, as long as the part was substantial and on par with what her peers were doing. She was informed that the character would be similar to Schitts Creek’s Moira Rose, but the character lacked depth. She would want the role to have meat if she were portraying Ishaan’s mother. She turned to leave the project. A second insider from the production continues, saying, “We have auditioned various actors since the drama is set in a certain historical period. Only performers that were suitable for the role were chosen by the producers.

Upon contacting Mallika, her spokesperson verified the information and said, “Mallika left the project in February because she couldn’t work with the production company on the creative aspects.” The character fell short of their expectations. Thus, after many rounds of deliberation, she ultimately made her choice.”
