Zeenat Aman remembers how she was branded as “out of sync, cursed, shattered” in previous publications

Newspapers said that Zeenat had cursed herself, was out of rhythm, and had broken.

“If the headlines were to be believed, in 1979 I had cursed myself, in 1982 I was picked on, in 1984 I was out of sync, in 1985 I was marching towards self-destruction, and in 1998 I was shattered!,” she wrote as the post’s caption. I formerly subscribed to tabloids and glossy magazines, but that period was over very soon.

‘Colossal invasion of privacy’: Zeenat

“I could not relate at all to the person they presented me as,” Zeenat added. The headlines would read positively one day and negatively the next. Little fact-checking was done, and there was no regret for mistakes that were committed. Even when they got the narrative straight, there was almost always a serious invasion of privacy. When they were incorrect, such apparent falsehoods were accepted as truth. These’scandals’ have a cost. I recall the fear, fury, and anguish that went along with it because it was its own unique type of public humiliation.

Zeenat discusses challenging an editor over a “malicious story”

“At some point my skin toughened, and the realization dawned that it was impossible for me to challenge the persona that they wanted to create,” she said in her essay. When I once approached a former editor about a harmful piece, she was plenty of justifications but made no apologies. At that point, I decided not to take it personally. Even still, it was dishonorable since their main concern was making magazine sales.

All of this is merely to suggest that because others will always have something to say, it’s generally better to avoid letting their viewpoint or perspective define your existence. Zeenat concluded her message with, “You can do it for yourself. Among those who liked the post were Kajol, Abhay Deol, Shweta Bachchan, Dia Mirza, and Ananya Panday. Dia Mirza, Maheep Kapoor, and Bhavana Pandey commented on the picture with the emojis “100 points,” “red heart,” “hug face,” and “raised hands.”

Regarding Zeenat’s professional life

Zeenat started her acting career in 1970, and some of her early roles were in movies like The Evil Within and Hulchul. She rose to fame with the musical dramas Yaadon Ki Baaraat (1973) and Hare Rama Hare Krishna (1971).

In her career, Zeenat has delivered a number of blockbusters with movies like Satyam Shivam Sundaram, Qurbaani, Dhund, Don, and Manoranjan. She was well renowned in her age for playing unusual characters.
