Ways Dialysis Patients Can Stay Cool This Summer

As summer draws near, renal patients should expect longer days, higher temperatures, and more difficulties. They should adhere to basic summertime survival guidelines to avoid overheating. These include, but are not limited to, drinking plenty of water, remaining in the shade, avoiding sun exposure, using sunglasses, eating fruits, ingesting less salt and sugar, abstaining from alcohol and caffeine, and not spending too much time outside.

A detailed discussion of various tips is provided below.

To reduce sweating and the temptation to consume more fluids, try to avoid direct sunlight and spend as much time in the shade as possible.

When you go outside, use sunglasses to shield yourself from the heat.

Put on airy clothes, ideally cotton ones.

Sip your drinks gradually rather than downing the whole glass at once. Rather of using big glasses, use little measuring cups. Sipping will extend the time you may enjoy the beverage.

Eat some cold or frozen fruit as a snack to help relieve thirst.

To relieve your thirst, go for mouthwash, sugar-free mints, gum, sour candies, or lemon.

Sugar and salt both draw in water, so eating too much of either might make you thirstier. Therefore, cut down on your consumption of salty and sugary meals to avoid being dehydrated.

To keep your throat moist and your mouth fresh, brush or gargle often.

Cucumbers may be used to salads to stay cool and to relieve thirst.

You may have cold hanging curd and foods made with it, including shrikhand or frozen yogurt.

Take medications with meals to avoid consuming extra fluids throughout the day.

Steer clear of coffee, alcohol, and high sugar foods since they might actually make your body lose more fluids.

Restrict your outside activities to the cooler hours of the day, such as early mornings before 11:00 am or late nights after 5:00 pm. Stay Indoors Instead.

On burnt skin, use an aloe vera moisturizing product. Sunburns hinder the skin’s natural cooling process.

If properly implemented, these easy suggestions may help you keep cool this summer and avoid fluid excess and dehydration.
