13 children are saved, 19 are detained as Australian police bust a child abuse ring with FBI assistance

A “sophisticated” child abuse ring was broken up by Australian police on Tuesday, they said, adding that the FBI had assisted in the arrest of 19 males.

13 kids had reportedly been rescued from the “dangerous” network, which distributed encrypted child abuse content on the dark web, according to Federal Police Commander Helen Schneider.

She told reporters, “The lengths this network took to escape discovery are an indicator of exactly how dangerous they were.

The FBI broke up the ring as part of a bigger cross-border operation; 79 suspected perpetrators have already been indicted in the US.

When FBI special agents Daniel Alfin and Laura Schwartzenberger were shot and died while investigating a Florida residence in 2021, the protracted investigation made news.

According to the authorities, some of the Australian guys were professionals who made their income using computers.
