13 cruise missiles fired overnight by Russian forces, according to Ukraine

A total of 13 cruise missiles launched by Russian troops overnight against an airbase in Ukraine’s west, Ukraine said Friday, were all shot down.

“On June 23, thirteen cruise missiles fired by the invaders were destroyed. This time, a military airport in the Khmelnytskyi area was the target of the assault, according to a statement on social media by the Ukrainian air force.

Over the course of the winter, Russia conducted waves of aerial assaults using crusie missiles and attack drones, leading Kyiv to call on its Western partners to strengthen its air defense systems.

According to a statement from the air force, “the launches were conducted around midnight from the Caspian Sea by four Tu-95MS bombers.”

Oleksandr Symchyshyn, the mayor of Khmelnytskyi, claimed explosions in the pre-war population of roughly 275,000 town while praising Ukrainian air defense systems.

A Russian spy drone was downed overnight, according to Ukraine.
