A 60-Year-Old Takes First Place in the Miss Universe Buenos Aires Beauty Pageant

New Delhi: When Alejandra Marisa Rodriguez, a 60-year-old Argentine, won the coveted title of Miss Universe for the province of Buenos Aires, she broke prejudices and made history. Her triumph, which was revealed on Wednesday, not only honors her incredible journey but also highlights how committed the Miss Universe beauty contest is to promoting inclusiveness and diversity.

Rodriguez, who is from La Plata, the provincial capital of Buenos Aires, Argentina, is not only a beauty queen but also an accomplished journalist and lawyer who exemplifies the complexity of modern beauty. Her success is evidence of her tenacity; she broke through boundaries and redefined expectations of age and beauty.

She becomes the first female in her age group to win a beauty award of this kind. Her grace, elegance, and contagious grin won over judges and viewers alike, touching people all over the globe.

Her tenacity is evident in videos posted on social media as she gets ready to compete in the forthcoming national Miss Universe Argentina selection, which will take place in May 2024, and represent Buenos Aires. If Rodriguez wins, she will raise the Argentine flag on the international platform at the Miss Universe World pageant, which takes place in Mexico on September 28, 2024.

“I am thrilled to be representing this new paradigm in beauty pageants because we are inaugurating a new stage in which women are not only physical beauty but another set of values,” she told the press after her victory.

Last year, the Miss Universe organization said that there would be no age restrictions for pageant competitors. Any lady above the age of 18 is able to participate as of this year. The pageant was formerly restricted to ladies between the ages of 18 and 28.

Haidy Cruz, a 47-year-old beauty pageant competitor who will represent the Dominican Republic in Miss Universe 2024, is another contender making headlines.
