China declares the Gaza War a “disgrace for civilization” and demands that Palestine be granted “permanent” UN membership

China has described the current conflict between Israel and Hamas in Gaza as a “tragedy for humanity” and a “disgrace for civilization,” Xinhua said. China has affirmed its unwavering support for Palestine throughout this continuing conflict.

On Thursday, Beijing’s support for Palestine becoming a full member of the UN was again expressed by Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi.

Wang Yi was speaking on Thursday at a news conference held in conjunction with the nation’s annual assembly of parliament.

Wang stated that China calls for a more comprehensive, powerful, and successful international peace conference to establish a schedule and road map for the two-state solution. “We support Palestine’s full membership in the UN, and urge certain UN Security Council members to stop laying obstacles to that end,” Wang said.

Wang urged the international community to take action and prioritize an urgent ceasefire, stating that the humanitarian catastrophe brought on by the Israeli-Palestinian conflict in the twenty-first century is a tragedy for mankind and a shame for civilization, according to Xinhua.

The foreign minister demanded the release of everyone detained, stating that Palestinians “have the right to live” throughout the globe.

Wang went on to say that the only way to end the ongoing hostilities between Israel and the Palestinian people is to “fully implement the two-state solution” and provide justice to the Palestinian people.

On October 7, of last year, Hamas conducted a major terror assault on Israel, resulting in the deaths of over 1200 people and the kidnapping of over 250 more.

Israel began a fierce counteroffensive in the Gaza Strip after declaring war on Hamas. The Gaza Health Ministry reports that the strikes have claimed the lives of nearly 30,000 Palestinians.

Wang went on to say that China would continue to be a “force for peace, stability, and progress in the world” despite the unstable and complicated international environment.

In order to uphold the agreements on China-US ties, the Chinese FM also said that the US should have a “objective and rational view” of China’s growth and match its words with deeds.

“Our position is the three principles proposed by President Xi Jinping — mutual respect, peaceful coexistence, and win-win cooperation,” Wang was cited as saying by Xinhua.
