Israel said that while the US and EU employ sanctions to defuse tensions, Iran won’t be allowed to go “scot-free.”

The United States and the European Union (EU) intervened with proposals to penalize Iran’s missile and drone programs in an attempt to defuse tensions between Israel and Iran. This would stop Iran from launching as many missiles at Israel as it did on Saturday.

Fearing that the Gaza war would expand across the region, the US and its allies are pressuring Israel to hold off on taking punitive action to avoid inciting a larger conflict involving other parties.

Iran’s firing of over 300 missiles, cruise missiles, and drones against Israeli land “will be met with a response,” but Israel’s military chief of staff, Herzi Halevi, provided no specifics.

The planned war cabinet meeting on Tuesday has been rescheduled until Wednesday, according to an unidentified Israeli government source.

One may argue that the US and its allies are using the severe economic penalties as a tactic to dissuade Israel from launching a full-scale counterattack.

According to National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan, the US intends to impose further sanctions on Iran’s drone and missile programs shortly, and allies are likely to follow suit. This was announced on Tuesday. The US is committed to stopping what Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen called “Iran’s destabilizing activities and terrorist financing.”

In the meantime, Josep Borrell, the head of EU foreign policy, revealed intentions to increase the scope of sanctions on Iran, perhaps including the delivery of drones to Russia and missiles to Iranian proxies.

The Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) said that Iran would not be spared punishment for their historic missile and drone strikes. We are unable to withstand this level of hostility. At the Julis military facility, which is close to Kiryat Malachi, IDF spokesperson Rear Adm. Daniel Hagari warned reporters in English that Iran will not get away with this action.

Hagari examined the remnants of an intercepted ballistic missile with IDF officers on Tuesday. He said that the goal of the Iranian government is to erect a “ring of fire” around Israel. According to The Times of Israel, he said, “(Iran) is building a conventional threat, meaning to create a ring of fire across Israel.”

According to Israeli War Cabinet Minister Benny Gantz’s remarks to Israel Hayom, a counterattack is not completely out of the question.

“Israel will reply at the location, at the time, and in the way it decides, acting with strategic intelligence. Benny Gantz said, “And this is not the place to elaborate.”
