Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu has a hernia procedure that goes well

Following a successful hernia procedure, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu was alert and talking with family on Monday, according to the hospital where he was being treated, as reported by Arab News.

According to a story from the prime minister’s office, Netanyahu had surgery on Sunday to repair a hernia.

The process is taking place while the country and Hamas battle in Gaza after the terrorist group’s historic assault on Israel in October.

During the 74-year-old’s surgery, Deputy Prime Minister and Justice Minister Yariv Levin filled in as prime minister, according to the premier’s office.

Following discussions, the decision was taken for the prime to have surgery following his daily routine after the doctors found the hernia on Saturday, according to his office, as reported by AFP.

The Times of Israel reports that Netanyahu had hernia surgery late yesterday night at Hadassah Medical Center-Ein Kerem in Jerusalem, where he is now recuperating.

A brief video message was provided by the hospital after the completion of the procedure. The procedure was successful, according to the doctors in the video, and Netanyahu was awake and conversing with his family.

The story also quoted Prof. Alon Pikarsky, chief of general surgery, as saying, “His situation is perfect.”

According to an AFP count of Israeli government data, Hamas’s strike on Israel on October 7 resulted in around 1,160 casualties in Israel, the majority of them civilians. This incident was the catalyst for the Gaza war.

According to the health ministry in Hamas-run Gaza, Israel’s retaliatory attack has killed at least 32,782 Palestinians so far, the majority of them being women and children on Sunday.

On Sunday night, thousands of Israelis protested in Jerusalem, demanding the resignation of Netanyahu and the release of Israeli captives detained in Gaza.
