Japan issues a tsunami warning after an earthquake close to the Izu Chain

A tsunami warning has been issued by Japan after an earthquake close to its outer islands. A hypothetical tsunami, according to officials, might be as high as one meter.

According to NHK TV, the advise, which seems to be the lowest level of warning, instructs residents of the islands in the Izu chain, which extends south from the center of the main Japanese island of Honshu, to avoid the shoreline and river mouths.

One of the countries on earth with the highest earthquake risk is Japan. Huge portions of northern Japan were wrecked by a tsunami brought on by a powerful earthquake in 2011, and the Fukushima nuclear reactor experienced a meltdown.
