Russia is allegedly planning “unpleasant surprises” and may attempt to march on Kharkiv, the second-biggest city in the nation, which is located in the northeast, in the next few months, according to Oleksandr Pivnenko, the head of Ukraine’s National Guard. According to Pivnenko, Kyiv’s soldiers were ready to repel any attack.

In addition to claiming victories on the front lines in Pervomaiske, Bohdanivka, and Novomykhailivka this month, Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu said that his country will “increase the intensity of attacks on logistics centers and storage bases for Western weapons” in Ukraine.

Emergency services in the Zaporizhia area of Ukraine, which is under Russian occupation, reported that a Ukrainian drone assault claimed the lives of four automobile passengers north of the town of Melitopol.

In relation to the unlawful purchase of state-owned land in 2017 and 2018, Ukraine said that Agriculture Minister Mykola Solskyi was the subject of a corruption probe. In response to the accusations, Solskyi refuted them and pledged to cooperate fully.

One of the 12 deputy defense ministers in Russia, Timur Ivanov, was arrested, according to the Investigative Committee, on suspicion of accepting bribes. Ivanov, 48, was in charge of building and reconstructing infrastructure, managing property, and providing housing and medical care for military personnel. Ivanov is one of the richest people in Russia’s security services, according to Forbes magazine.
China denounced the claims as “baseless.” The United States asserts that Beijing is arming Russia with dual-use components, thereby escalating the conflict in Ukraine. Beijing has come under fire for not denouncing Moscow for its full-scale invasion of Ukraine, although it maintains that it is a neutral party in the crisis. This week, US Secretary of State Antony Blinken will be in Beijing.
Journalist Evan Gershkovich of the Wall Street Journal filed an appeal against his pre-trial detention on espionage accusations, but a Russian court denied it. The US government, the Journal, and Gershkovich have all denied the allegations.
Weaponry
The first part of the long-awaited Ukraine-Israel deal, which is expected to become law, will be a $1 billion military assistance package from the United States to Ukraine. Under condition of anonymity, US officials told the Reuters and Associated Press news agencies that the aid package includes Stinger air defense munitions, extra ammunition for high-mobility artillery rocket systems (HIMARS), artillery ammunition, and other weapons that can be used immediately on the battlefield.
