Russia’s Syzran oil plant was struck by Ukrainian drones, the regional governor claims

Moscow: The governor of the Samara area of Russia said on Saturday that two Rosneft oil refineries in the area had been hit by Ukrainian drones; one of the facilities was set on fire, but no injuries were reported.
In a message published on the messaging app Telegram, Governor Dmitry Azarov claimed that while the Syzran refinery in the Volga River area was on fire, an attempt to assault the Novokubyshev plant had been foiled.

He stated that there were no injuries and that all employees at both factories had been evacuated.
An unconfirmed video that surfaced online claimed to show a significant fire at the Syzran refinery, with emergency personnel responding.
Refineries throughout Europe have been severely targeted by Ukraine in recent weeks as part of a larger campaign to undermine Russia’s energy infrastructure.
Today marks the first day of Russia’s three-day presidential election campaign. On Friday, President Vladimir Putin accused Ukraine of trying to tamper with the votes, which he was sure to win.
